Embrace

He trudged his way through the empty road,
brokenhearted and with a dreadful pain in his soul,
he broke into tears while elevating a prayer to the heavens above,
yet no answer seemed to be heard, and his torment was all that remained as before.
Thoughts crossed his mind as rapid lightnings,
but no logical reason was there to take in, and other sentiments blooming were just frightening,
his heart needed no logical reason,
but a healing cure for his decaying soul was now the ambition
for all hope has faded and whithered away,
and the long path of life has become a business so grey.
Once again, heavy rain fell from the darkened sky above,
and such sharpened solitude became his companion from now on.
He would beg for it to go away
but this one responded, "why should I leave you if I also share your same disgrace?"
His heart sank heavily, realising how lost his life was
and the mere thought of hope, just seemed to die away in the distance than it has ever before.
Life turned its back on him, he thought
and everything that once was, there is no more
but dead may give him a more prolonged cold embrace
so why not to long eagerly for it, since this one might behold his face,
his soul, and every single cor,ner of his heart
which has, so many times, been torn apart.
He begged for the death to be the one for him,
to be there with him with no hesitation or even sin,
to embrace him so tenderly that life and solitude would be hurt,
and in jealousy they would abandon him and no words from them would be heard.
He prayed to the death to stay with him, for all his hope has gone away
and death responded "I am here, and I shall give you my coldest embrace"
His eyes opened wide, and in the most tender sigh,
he gave in with no fear inside,
and all that once was grey and overflooded in pain,
was there no more, and only a small tear on the ground would remain from now on.

  1. "Sharpened solitude" is a beautiful expression.
Your conclusion is wistful and filled with peace - do you need the "from now on"? - may be just "was there no more - only a small tear on the ground remained..." Forgive me if I'm being impertinent, I just think it might scan better! Anyway, you're awesome, as you well know x
