Run

She runs wildly under the pale moonlight as her black hair in swift movement waves here and there, letting her beauty spring like a stream, letting her white skin look like silk.
She runs in desperation for sorrow took over her and shredded her heart, and tears do not stop flowing out of her eyes. She falls onto the damped ground and screams of pain come out of her soul rather than her mouth for her life has been left into pieces, and the memories break into slashes of pain in her mind.
Running, running, she kept on running and the wind blew cold and darkened clouds gathered up menacing to kill the moonlight, and she wondered desperately how on earth she would walk these lands again with such a burden of pain on her back… her pale skin seemed to glow and just then, drops of cold rain fell from the sky.
Water bathed her being and cold grew stronger, and even though her shaking body asked her to leave the place, she stood there, on the ground, and just as the rain fell heavily on her body, her thoughts started to wonder all over her mind, reviving memories as sweet as the smell of flowers in spring, and her pain sharpened harder piercing her heart, and just right there she wished for the cold embrace of darkness, the one that might vanquish her pain, the one that might redeem her life, the one that might stay with her…..and her heart, in a combination of hate, pain and love, took new shape, “for this world is unjust” she thought.
Her sublime constitution trembled and shook but she did not care about this fact, only her world crumbling down.
The cold rain slowly started to stop until eventually just the moon showed its white face again among the clouds, but cold still remained, blowing swiftly...
Her eyes might have pierced the sky for she did not stop staring at it as if paralysed, while tears kept on flowing… nothing seemed to calm down her pain inside, but she stood still on the ground, grasping hardly onto a piece of wet grass.
Slowly she put herself together and wiped the tears from her cheeks, trying to calm down her soul and her thoughts, and she walked slowly, looking at the pale moon when a whisper let itself into the night, stealing her wondering in her thoughts.
Suddenly she stopped; sensing a shiver on her back and for one second her pain vanished and a feeling of fear replaced it because she knew she was not mistaken about the whisper. She looked around and saw nothing but grass, trees and, perhaps, the bright eyes from an owl perched on a branch of a tree. She did not care and kept on walking, thinking again about her tragedy and there was again.... a soft whisper.
She felt it closer this time, warm and closer to her ear, words that were soft, and her eyes almost bulging off the sockets looked all over the land and her heart pounding was being invaded by fear… she just stood there, trying to make out what she has just sensed, looking through the land under pale moonlight and yet saw nothing. She felt her constitution could not respond properly to her commands, her pain was there losing its form and becoming into fear. And there was again, this time the whisper sounded clear and the words flew perfectly audible accompanied by a giggling: “come to me”
She started running or so she thought she was, she tried harder to put her legs back in motion just right as tears of fear invaded her face once again and her black-damped hair covered it as well, but it was somehow futile, for her movements were clumsy and uneven. Desperation and fear overpowered themselves by taking over her body and heart for she knew something was there, lurking, looking, and spying on her every move without her being able to see what it was.
“Come to me”, the whisper said and she screamed in anger and fear into the night demanding what or who it was and yet did not have a reply to her request.
She stopped forcing her body to move and once again looked around and there she saw a shape which immediately disappeared, and fears of ancient superstitions awoke in her mind: demons, devil, wickedness.
“God take me here and now” she begged, but no response she got.
“come to me” she heard again. She saw a pair of glinting eyes and a darkened shape and all her pain just turned into the most sharpened fear she could have ever experienced. And she wished she was not there.
“I’m your darkness, the one with cold embrace to vanquish your pain”, and it vanished again with an almost laugh. She ran as fast as she could but suddenly a strong hand grabbed her from her neck and lifted her as if a feather while her legs swished here and there. She could see his eyes glowing under the moonlight as he said “I’m your darkness”. A ball of screams tried to escape from her throat but just could not make it and then immediately she was released from the torture and tossed away onto the ground. Choking she tried to stand up, putting herself together was a hard task to endeavour, however, she got back on her feet. Her emotions flowing, rushing within her…
“I’m your darkness, the one to vanquish your fears” he said, softly almost as if caring. The moonlight grew stronger this time, showing features from the man. She could see his shining eyes, his pale skin and cherry lips, black wavy hair. Tall and almost fair he stood in front of her, smirking.
“Why are you doing this to me? Who are you?”
“I’m your darkness, the one whose embrace is cold, the one that you have desired.”
He approached her and she just could not move. Somehow she was just pinned to ground. Everything made no sense then, all her pain and sorrow was there no more and just a deep fear covered her heart and soul and flesh. Her thoughts were confused and her memories were like they have never been in her mind before.
A black sombre covered everything, making her see nothing, and her voice was that of an echo.
Heat, echoes, screams in the distance… she slowly opened her eyes, and a red sky opened before her, a red sky as if on fire, and in a quick move she stood back up. Tears on her face, disconcerted, seeing all around searching for answers, searching for him and he was nowhere. Her bare feet could sense the land, or better said, the ashes between her toes. Desolation.
Trees that once were are now in flames and the grass has become burnt and those screams of pain and desperation pierced her ears. They sounded as if someone or something was torturing them for they had no end. Fire balls from the sky could be seen destroying whatever was on earth, demonic laughs could be heard and whispers coming from everywhere none of which she could make out. As she walked she beheld the scenery in terror and fear, and her soul felt weary and wounds in it opened up again and she cried as she has never done before, and despite of all her prayers, no one seemed to hear. Shadows chased her trails and she could see them hunting her way, mocking her, pointing at her. And then out of nowhere he was there, showing a wicked smile on his face, eyes as red as the sky, pale skin.
- Where am I? What have you done? Who are you? She demanded. Tears pouring from her eyes, fear growing within her.
“I’m your darkness, I’m what you fear. And this is home, where you belong, my love”
